Linux tricks and tips

PROMPT_COMMAND='echo -ne "\033]0;${USER}@${HOSTNAME%%.*}:${PWD/#$HOME/~}\007"'

(in bash) sets the title of your xterm to user@host:/pwd, module home directory.

LANG=en_US.utf8

Lets you browse see utf-8 encoded non-ascii characters in your xterm.
